Live/Work

The Live/Work show was sub-par. It was. I went in without expecting anything, however, I feel like I left feeling a little dissapointed. I found that when I left the museum, what stayed in my mind were pieces from the permanent collection, which I've seen before. I feel like there weren't any great masterpieces in the Live/Work exhibit, and even if there were, they wouldn't have been properly showcased. Good pieces were closed surrounded by mediocre ones. Nothing was given the chance to stand out. I was dissapointed because it was the MoMA, a museum that is internationally known for its prestige. I was surprised this show was there, I feel like I wouldn't be as harsh if the exhibit were at a smaller, less famous museum, but this was the MoMA. When you go there, I feel like you expect to see really impressive works, and I didn't get that from this exhibit.
One piece that stood out to me however, was Arnulf Rainer's Untitled print. His lines on the photograph really changed it. They were simple, but they really gave the entire piece a sense of urgency and made it much more interesting. The boldness attracted me immediately and made it more memorable. I wish there was more explanation about the show. I feel like I'm missing a key fact or something that would make me appreciate it more.
